If you're comparing EPOS systems, the prices can be hard to line up side by side. Some suppliers bundle hardware into a monthly fee, some charge per feature, and some keep their prices off their website altogether. Here's how the costs break down, using our own prices as a worked example. All prices exclude VAT.
The two parts of the cost
Almost every EPOS system has two parts:
- Software, paid monthly. This runs your tills, menus, reports and any online ordering.
- Hardware, paid once. This is the till itself, plus the printer, cash drawer and card machine.
Keeping them separate makes it easier to see what you're paying for, and to add more later without starting again.
Monthly software
Our plans are priced by the month:
- Starter, £49 a month. Order and table management, split payments and split bills, stock control and 7-day support. Suits cafes, retailers and smaller venues.
- Essentials, £79 a month. Everything in Starter, plus your own online ordering website, delivery app integrations, phone (VoIP) integration, a loyalty scheme and online table bookings. Most busy restaurants and takeaways choose this one.
- Premium, £109 a month. Everything in Essentials, plus mobile app integrations, multi-store features and an assigned account manager.
You can see the full list on our pricing page.
One-off hardware
A complete till kit includes the till, a cash drawer, an integrated card machine and an 80mm receipt printer. Our kits start at:
- Tablet POS, £379
- Sunmi D3 Mini, £449
- Sunmi D3 Pro or iMin Swan 2 Pro, £499
- Sunmi D3 80mm, £749, with a built-in printer and customer display
Handheld devices for taking orders at the table start from £379. You can order everything online from our hardware shop, with next day delivery.
Extras to budget for
As you grow, most add-ons are a simple monthly licence:
- Extra tills, kitchen display screens, collection screens and menu screens: £19 a month each.
- Self-service kiosks: £59 a month for the software, or £99 a month for our ultimate bundle, which covers the software licences for one till and one kiosk. Each kiosk after the first is £19 a month. Kiosk hardware starts from £799.
- Kitchen display screen hardware: from £399.
- Delivery app integrations: Uber Eats, Deliveroo and Just Eat may carry an additional charge.
Card payment fees
Card processing is charged by your payment provider, not by your EPOS supplier, and rates vary by provider. We work with Dojo, Viva.com, DNA Payments and Paynt, so you can compare them and choose. Find out more about integrated payments.
